Biocompost de Lugo

Biocompost de Lugo is located on a seven hectare site in the area of Pedrablanca, near the municipal capital (Feira do Monte). It is a modern installation equipped with the latest technologies that allow for the treatment of 150 T/day of biodegradable organic waste, non hazardous waste from agricultural industry and urban waste water treatment sludge, giving a total of 40,000 T/year, in an environmentally friendly manner.

The compost warehouse occupies 6400 square meters and uses a new bio-stabilisation system for the composting of the waste. This system encourages accelerated composting using aerated static piles covered with semi permeable films.

The use of the new material, along with the supply of forced aeration, ensures the best conditions for the composting process from the standpoint of treatment and minimisation of odour emissions.
