Biological Waste Treatment

With the option of in-house or local partners, specialist biological treatment centres offer a variety of treatment options, including full biological and anaerobic digestion.

Liquid wastes are treated to remove solids with biological treatment to remove carbonaceous matter and ammonia. The resulting purified liquid effluent and bio solids are disposed of using formally regulated methods.

Effluents can be blended with bio-solids from aerobic treatment to produce a cost effective treatment for high COD wastes. This mixture is broken down biologically to produce methane that is burnt on-site for power generation.

Waste types suitable:

High COD waste, leachate, pharmaceutical and cosmetic wastes, chemical wastes, food wastes and contaminated waters including:

  •     Ammonia
  •     Amines
  •     Acetic Acid
  •     Scrubber liquors
  •     Paint, ink and dye wastes
  •     Landfill leachates

Hereford Biological Treatment Centre

Located on the outskirts of the town, Hereford Waste Management Centre specialises in the biological treatment of aqueous biodegradable liquid wastes. The facility offers cost-effective, compliant and environmentally conscious disposal for a wide range of waste types of which landfill leachates and food production wash waters are two typical examples.
