INJURIES FROM SLIPS, TRIPS AND FALLS CAN HAPPEN AS A RESULT OF NOT ONLY INCLIMATE WEATHER, BUT ALSO FROM OTHER VARIOUS HAZARDS - MANY OF WHICH ARE COMPLETELY PREVENTABLE.
Slippery conditions are obviously caused by snow, ice and rain but potential hazards also include cluttered walkways, spills, cords, cables left in walkways and even changes in flooring surfaces - wrinkled carpets, rugs and unexpected steps or drop-downs.
Be prepared and aware of potential Fall, Trips, Slips Hazards by being aware and mindful - Stay safe and prevent accidents and injuries whenever possible.

1. Slippery Conditions: Remove and/or control slippery conditions wherever possible -
Remove snow, ice and clean up spills. Use traction tape on potentially slippery surfaces and always wear appropriate shoes for best traction.
2. Slow Down: In slippery conditions, slow down, bend your knees slightly and take slower, shorter steps. This will help to be better prepared to react quickly to a change in traction.
3. Limit What You Carry: Carrying heavy items can challenge your sense of balance. Try not to carry too much - leaving your hands free to catch or protect yourself in the event you lose traction and begin to slip or fall.
4. Use Railing: Railings are there for a reason - use them even when you feel it is not necessary. If you lose traction, holding a railing may be what prevents a fall.
