Government and Diplomatic Leaders Visit Industriepark Lausitz to Recognize a Landmark Circular Economy Project.
Industriepark Lausitz recently welcomed Dr. Dietmar Woidke, Prime Minister of the State of Brandenburg, together with Pascual Navarro Ríos, Ambassador of Spain to Germany, for an official visit that underscored the strength of international cooperation in sustainable industrial development. The visit highlighted the close collaboration between BASF Schwarzheide GmbH, BASF Infraservice & Solutions Lausitz GmbH, and Tradebe, an alliance that reflects a shared commitment to the principles of the circular economy and long-term resource efficiency.
The delegation was accompanied by Juergen Fuchs, Chairman of the Management Board of the site operating company of Industriepark Lausitz; Alex Gazulla Planellas, Tradebe’s Expansion & Development Director; and Andreas Pech, Site Manager at BASF Schwarzheide. Together, they reviewed the progress and impact of a flagship project that has become a benchmark for industrial symbiosis within the chemical sector.
Construction of Tradebe’s advanced solvent recovery facility at BASF’s Schwarzheide site began in 2019, with operations successfully launched in 2024. The facility employs cutting-edge fractional distillation and flash technologies to recover and recycle solvents from BASF’s production processes. Each year, approximately 19,000 tonnes of products are recovered, with around 70 percent reintegrated directly into BASF’s manufacturing cycles. This approach significantly reduces waste while preserving valuable raw materials, reinforcing the site’s contribution to a more efficient and sustainable industrial model.
The visit served as recognition of the collective effort behind this achievement. Thanks to the dedication and expertise of all teams involved, the project stands as a clear example of how collaborative innovation can support both industrial performance and environmental responsibility.
