During the discussion, participants analysed the opportunities and challenges arising from the current regulatory framework and its role in advancing more efficient waste management practices. Particular attention was given to the need to harmonise waste shipment regulations across Spain through the mechanisms established under Law 7/2022 on Waste and Contaminated Soils, promoting greater coordination between autonomous communities and a more consistent application of legislation nationwide.

The debate also highlighted the importance of ensuring legal certainty for waste management operators in key areas such as end-of-waste status, by-product classification, landfill taxation and the planning of an integrated network of facilities capable of maximising waste recovery and resource valorisation.

Another major topic addressed during the forum was the digital transformation of waste management. Participants stressed the need to continue improving digital tools and systems that enhance traceability, transparency and operational efficiency throughout the entire waste value chain.

The development of new treatment and recovery infrastructures was also identified as a priority to meet the current and future needs of the industry, while overcoming existing social, regulatory and competitiveness barriers.

Tradebe’s participation in the forum reinforces the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability and public-private collaboration, helping drive a more efficient resource management model capable of generating environmental, economic and social value.
